Full chest and breast massage are within the scope of practice for Licensed Massage Therapists with appropriate training. I offer this work in my practice and also train other LMTs in specialized breast and chest massage techniques.

In cases where appropriate, this work may support post-surgical recovery and help address issues such as swelling, scar tissue restrictions, range-of-motion limitations, and post-mastectomy discomfort.

When appropriate, regular treatment may help reduce congestion, improve circulation, and support lymphatic flow. It may be included as part of general therapeutic care or used more specifically when there is a defined clinical need. This work can also help clients become more familiar with their own breast and chest tissue, supporting comfort and awareness over time.

  • Full chest & breast massage is generally not offered as a standalone treatment, but it can be seamlessly integrated into any session—with clear communication and consent. You’re welcome to request this work during your intake. If you have a therapeutic or clinical need for more focused time, you may select a Custom Treatment or choose the extra time add-on when booking.

Wellness Focused Breast & Chest Massage For Men & Women

Since 2014, I have offered the option to include therapeutic chest and breast work as part of a session when appropriate. For breastfeeding mothers, those undergoing breast cancer treatment, or individuals in post-treatment recovery, I also provide more specialized care, including Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), to support comfort and overall well-being.

I invite you to learn more about this approach and to ask any questions or share any concerns you may have. Many clients choose to include this work as part of their care and find it to be a meaningful addition to their treatment.

Chest and breast work represent a distinctive part of my practice. Since 2017, I have also trained massage therapists nationwide in both the hands-on methods and the communication skills needed to approach this work safely, ethically, and professionally. Silicone nipple covers provided.

Benefits of Chest & Breast Massage Within a Wellness-Focused Massage Session

Supporting Relaxed Breathing and Whole-Body Tension Relief

Massage of the anterior chest wall can support easier, more relaxed breathing. Improved breathing patterns may help reduce tension in the chest and contribute to a greater sense of overall relaxation throughout the body. Work in this area may also help ease tightness in the throat and surrounding structures.

Supporting Circulation and Tissue Mobility

Gentle massage and mobilization of chest and breast tissue may support circulation and lymphatic flow. Since this area receives relatively little direct movement in daily life, focused work can help maintain tissue mobility and comfort.

Supporting Posture, Movement, and Recovery

Massage of the chest and ribcage may help reduce muscular tension affecting the shoulders, neck, and upper back. When appropriate, this work can support improved movement, reduce discomfort, and complement recovery from strain or injury.

Supporting Comfort and Body Awareness

Chest and breast massage can help clients experience this area of the body in a neutral, professional, and non-sexual context. For some, this may support a greater sense of comfort and familiarity with their own body over time.

Additional Potential Benefits

Supports Relaxation and Comfort – May help reduce general tension and promote ease throughout the upper body.

May Improve Postural Patterns – Reducing chest tightness can contribute to a more open and comfortable posture.

May Help Ease Cyclical Breast Discomfort – Some clients report relief from hormonal tenderness.

Encourages Body Awareness – May help clients become more familiar with normal tissue changes over time.

Supports Pregnancy and Postpartum Comfort – When appropriate, may help ease discomfort related to changes in the chest and breast area.

Supports Post-Surgical Recovery – When clinically appropriate, may assist with scar tissue mobility, discomfort, and movement restrictions following procedures such as biopsies, reductions, or reconstruction.

Supports Lymphatic Flow and Swelling Management – In appropriate cases, techniques such as Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) may be incorporated to support fluid movement and reduce swelling.

Professional Standards & Client Safety

This work is provided within the scope of licensed massage therapy and is provided only when appropriate, based on intake, clinical assessment, the therapist’s professional judgment, in accordance with the Standards of Professional Practice, and only when there is client interest and fully informed consent.

Each session begins with a clear understanding of your needs, preferences, and any relevant health considerations. Techniques are always adapted to your comfort level and may be modified or declined at any time.

All sessions are conducted with clear communication, respect for client autonomy, attention to client well-being, and professional draping at all times.

This work is offered only within a clearly defined therapeutic context. If the therapist determines that the request reflects anything other than therapeutic intent, this work may be respectfully declined.

You remain in control of your treatment throughout the session, and this work is always optional.

Toward Broader Acceptance

Chest and breast massage remain under recognized despite their therapeutic value and appropriate place within skilled, ethical practice.

For this work to gain broader acceptance, it must continue to be offered with professionalism, sound judgment, informed consent, and a clearly defined therapeutic context. My goal in offering and teaching this work is to support that standard and help this work gain broader understanding and be practiced appropriately nationwide.

A Note on Gender and Choosing a Therapist

Choosing a male or female therapist for chest and breast work is a valid and important consideration. There is no single right answer—what matters most is your comfort, along with the therapist’s experience, professionalism, and approach.

I was first introduced to this work over 15 years ago while studying massage in Germany, where it was treated as a normal and integrated part of bodywork. It was not emphasized or separated—it was simply part of the work. It wasn’t until I returned to the United States that I became aware of the stigma, hesitation, and misunderstanding that often surround it.

As a male therapist, I understand that gender can influence how this work is perceived. My focus has always been on providing care that is professional, clearly communicated, and grounded in trust. Since becoming licensed, I have developed a practice centered on this work and have trained other therapists nationwide, including in both hands-on methods and the communication skills required to approach it appropriately.

At the same time, I fully respect that some clients will feel more comfortable working with a therapist of a particular gender. That preference is valid. For those seeking a female therapist, I am often able to provide referrals to trained practitioners.

My goal is simple: to ensure that clients have access to this work in a way that feels safe, appropriate, and aligned with their needs—regardless of the therapist’s gender.

I hope this information is useful.  If you have any questions or would like to book a treatment or consultation please contact me. I am always happy to help.
